Plan Your Housewarming Party

If you have purchased your first home, or a brand new one, then chances are high that you will want to throw a party so all of your friends and family can see how great it looks. Planning a housewarming party is something that may take you some time, but the end results will be worth it when you throw a party that fully highlights your new house.

The first thing that you will want to do before throwing your housewarming party is to fully clean your house. This may seem like a hassle, but it is vitally important that you have a clean house for you guests. Since you just moved in, it is probably a good idea to give it a good cleaning, especially now that all of your furniture is moved in and proper situated. Deep clean any rugs or carpeting that you may have. Go ahead and dust those hard to reach places. Clean all of your countertops and wash all of your dishes. Just reading a list like this should give you an idea of all of the work that needs to be done. This may also be a good opportunity for you to visit Barnes and Noble and find some light reading material you can spread out around the house or on coffee tables.

Once the house is properly cleaned and ready for guests, the next thing that you will want to do is determine what the menu is going to be for your guests. This is the perfect opportunity for you to use dishes that you have created yourself, especially if all of your guests will not be sitting down at a table to eat. For the menu, think of items that are light and easy to make. You will want to have something that all of your guests will enjoy. Also, be mindful of people that may have special dietary restrictions. The same can be said for the beverages that you will be providing. It is perfectly fine to have alcohol served in your own house, but be sure to provide beverages for those that do not wish to partake in drinking alcohol. If children are going to be present, you know that they can be picky about what they eat and drink, so having some sort of selection available to them will go a long way towards making your party a success.

Finally, don’t be afraid to have light entertainment as well. While you want to have conversation and socializing being the main entertainment, it does not hurt to have other options as well. Party games, music or even having the big game on in the background are all great ideas that you can follow through on.

It may seem like a lot of work to plan out a housewarming party, but the end result, having all of your friends and family in one place will be well worth it. Get going early to create a welcoming atmosphere and when you guests arrive, go out and have a great time!
